Politician who rose to fame as Albania's Minister of Interior Affairs from 2013-2017. He has represented the Socialist Party, and served as an elected member of the assembly between 2009-2013, including as the Vice Chair.
He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in law from University of Tirana. He later gained his PhD in Albanian parliamentary law.
He served on the assembly's Committee of Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights between 2009-2013. He was later implicated in a drug trafficking probe between Albania and Italy, and placed under house arrest in 2018 following his resignation from office.
His father's name is Bashkim Tahiri.
He served in Edi Rama's government as the Minister of Interior Affairs between 2013-2017.
