Award-winning sociologist, academic, educator, and author best known for his extensive research on social class, inequality, and cultural dimensions of class division. He is also known for his focus on social mobility and elitism. He has served as a Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He has also served as the coeditor of the British Journal of Sociology.
