She was sentenced to serve 20 years of imprisonment for five murders and two attempted murders on December 14th, 2007. She killed her patients by injecting air into their bloodstream, which resulted in embolism. She kept a diary with details of her patient's deaths.

She was born and raised in Como, Italy. She married a carpenter in 1993, but they divorced in 1994. She then began dating a radiologist for some time.
