Two-time Grammy Award-winning American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and session musician known for his exceptionally smooth, melodic guitar work. He is highly recognized for his past tenure as the lead guitarist for the Christian rock band Audio Adrenaline and his ongoing role as the touring lead guitarist for the rock band NEEDTOBREATHE.

Before fame

His public music career officially kicked off at the incredibly young age of 17 when he was recruited to join Audio Adrenaline in 1996.

Trivia

Growing up in a heavily musical family alongside a lakeside in Minnesota, he initially learned music through church songs and his father's personal vintage record collection. He is revered in guitar circles for his highly instinctual sense of melody, often turning to his favorite gear like a Gibson Les Paul GoldTop or a Fender Deluxe Reverb amplifier to shape his tone. Outside of his high-profile band work, he has also released solo indie-rock albums, including Darling Maybe Someday and Strange Light.

Family life

He was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has also spent significant creative time living in Nashville, Tennessee. He is happily married to his longtime wife, with whom he celebrated over two decades of marriage. Together, they are parents to three children, including his eldest son, Soren Burkum.
