Valentin Belaud

This French modern pentathlete competed for France at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has 1,000 followers on Twitter and 6,000 followers on Instagram. 

Before Fame

Belaud came onto the world scene in 2013, competing in both junior and senior World Championships. He just missed finishing third at the European Juniors, came in third in a World Cup Series tournament, and finished in the top ten in the World Championships. In 2016 he claimed the World Championship, then again in 2019.

Trivia

When he took the world champion title in 2016, he became the youngest champion ever.

Family Life

His girlfriend, with whom he competes, is fellow world champion modern pentathlete Elodie Clouvel. Belaud and Clouvel were part of a French delegation of athletes who took part in the seventh edition of the World Military Games in Wuhan, China in October of 2019, just 20 days before the first confirmed case of coronavirus in China. Afterward, Belaud and Clouvel told the media they believed they'd gotten sick with COVID-19 on their trip to Wuhan.

At the 2013 World Modern Pentathlon Championships, he and partner Clouvel took gold in the Mixed Events, while fellow modern pentathlete Samantha Murray was part of the gold-medal-winning Great Britain women's team.
