After working in mainstream journalism for several decades, she transitioned into opinion-driven media, including her own platform, Wendy Bell Radio, which she launched in 2020. Before fame

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder before going on to obtain a master's degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her early career began with nearly two decades as an anchor at WTAE-TV.

In 2005, she won regional Emmy Awards for Best News Anchor and Best Informational Reporting. That same year, two of her reported stories - "Hill District Trash" and "Airfare Secrets" - earned regional Emmys, winning Best Service News Feature and Best Informational News Feature, respectively. Over her lengthy career, she has won over 21 regional Emmy Awards altogether.

Family life

She married her husband, Joe O'Toole, in 1998. They share five sons including Michael, Jack, Ryan, and twins Christopher and Bobby.
