Before fame
He learned sacred mantras and chanting practices at a young age. He earned a Western medical degree in 1983. He completed acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine training at the China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Centre in 1985. He earned a master's degree in hospital administration from the University of the Philippines in 1988. He began combining energy practices with medical and acupuncture techniques in his early adulthood and gradually developed a hybrid system integrating spiritual practice, traditional Chinese medicine, and modern wellness language. He entered the English-language wellness publishing world in the 1990s and published one of his earliest notable books Zhi Neng Medicine in 1996. He gained early international attention with the release of Power Healing in 2002. He created the Soul Mind Body Medicine framework in the mid-2000s as a formal teaching system and released Soul Mind Body Medicine in 2006 which became a foundational text for his movement. He expanded heavily into online teaching during the 2010s and 2020s through YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

He has lived and taught in multiple countries throughout his career. He has authored or coauthored more than 30 books. He was named Qigong Master of the Year in 2002 at an international Qigong congress. He received the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Commission Award in 2006 for humanitarian contributions. He became a Yi Bi Zi Tao Calligraphy lineage holder in 2011. He received national calligraphy honors in China in 2016 including recognition as a master calligrapher and honorary research professor. He has released spiritual music and chanting albums, including Da Ai: Greatest Love in 2019.
