Zohran Mamdani

Politician who has been a member of the New York State Assembly for the 36th district in Queens since 2021. In 2025, as a Democrat, he defeated Andrew Cuomo in the primary for the New York City mayoral race.  On his zohrankmamdani Instagram page, he has amassed over 3.7 million followers who can see photos from his career, running for mayor, and speaking appearances. 

Before Fame

His family moved to New York City when he was 7 years old. He attended Bowdoin College. Before running for office, he worked as a foreclosure prevention and housing counselor, assisting lower-income homeowners. 

Trivia

He is a big fan of hip-hop music and has even composed some of his own raps. He went by the name Young Cardamom and collaborated with Ugandan rapper HAB on an EP called Sidda Mukyaalo. 

Family Life

His parents are Mahmood Mamdani and Mira Nair. He is married to Rama Duwaji.
