Scottish-born jazz and Dixieland musician remembered for his trumpet, cornet, and vocal performances. His recordings include Dixieland to Duke/The Melrose Folio and Music of the Mauve Decade.
As a teenager, he played with a music group called the Leith Silver Band. He later formed a popular London jazz band.
He released a popular single, "Tansy," in 1961.
He grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland and later settled in London, England.
He and fellow trumpeter and singer Kenny Ball both performed in a large-scale 1963 music event held at London's Alexandra Palace.
