Brazilian journalist, political commentator, and YouTube personality known for his decades-long career in television journalism including his work at TV Globo, and for his prominence as a conservative political commentator across Jovem Pan News, Gazeta do Povo, and the YouTube channel Cortadas Inteligentes.

Before fame

He worked in radio drama as a child and as a teenager he became a radio announcer. He studied social communication at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul. He began his journalism career as an intern at Jornal do Brasil. He worked as an international correspondent in the 1970s. He joined TV Globo in 1988 and remained with the network for more than three decades. He served as director of journalism in Brasília at TV Globo until 1995. He was a regular political commentator on Bom Dia Brasil from 1995 to 2018. He presented DFTV - 1ª Edição from 2000 to 2011. He joined Jovem Pan News as a political commentator in November 2021. He began sharing his commentary and political analysis on YouTube in 2022 on the channel Cortadas Inteligentes. 

Trivia

He was decorated by Queen Elizabeth II as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his coverage of the Falklands/Malvinas War in 1982. He is the author of the book Nos Bastidores da Notícia which was published in 1990.

Family life

He was born and raised in Cachoeira do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. His father worked in radio. He married Magda Pereira and he has three children named Denise, Gustavo, and Júlia. He also has grandchildren.
