Guatemalan-born abstract artist whose complex, brightly-colored paintings included his famous "Great Pyramid" from 1979 and "Twelve Events in a Dual Universe" from 1978.
He worked as a lumber salesman while attending San Diego High School as a night student.
His work was given a major retrospective exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum.
He married fellow abstract painter Regina Bogat in 1963.
He collaborated with fellow artist Joan Miro.
