Famous for his albums Privilegio and El Patroncito, this Mexican singer and songwriter is known for his corridos, or Mexican regional ballads. Extremely popular on social media, he had attracted nearly 1.5 million Facebook likes; 90,000 Twitter fans; and 1.8 million Instagram followers.
His first album, released on iTunes in 2011, includes the singles "Autorizame" and "El Principio del Infierno."
In February of 2015, during a live performance in Hildago del Parra, Chihuahua, Mexico, Olivas was shot by an audience member and subsequently hospitalized for his injuries.
He spent his youth in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico.
Olivas and fellow singer Gerardo Ortiz both rose to fame for their Mexican regional music. Over the course of their careers, both men also survived extreme incidents of violence.
