NBA coach who was hired to take over the New Orleans Pelicans in 2015. He had his first NBA head coaching job with the Miami Heat in 1994, then went on to coach the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns over the next twenty years.
He played college basketball at Appalachian State from 1973 to 1977 and began his coaching career as an assistant for Baylor in 1980.
As an assistant coach on the Golden State Warriors, he helped the team reach the NBA Finals in 2015.
He and ex-wife Suzanne Harris share two sons named Matthew and Ryan. He also has an older daughter named Alexis from his first marriage.
He coached star forward Grant Hill on the Pistons from 1997 to 2000.
