Famous for winning the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships with her American team, Locklear is also notable for her individual wins in the uneven bars events at the 2014 Pan American and U.S. National Gymnastics Championships.
She won her first state wide gymnastics tournament when she was just five years old.
She accepted a college recruitment offer from the NCAA gymnastics team at the University of Florida.
Born to a family of Lumbee Tribe heritage, she and her sister Angelia grew up in Lumberton, North Carolina, the children of Terry and Carrie Locklear.
She and Arizona athlete Mykayla Skinner won gold medals at the 2014 Pan American and World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
