Legendary quarterback and defensive back of the University of Iowa's 1921 football team during their historic win over Knute Rockne's Notre Dame.
He helped Iowa past Minnesota in 1919, kicking the game-winning field goal, and scoring all the team's points in wins over Northwestern and Iowa State.
His team met with Notre Dame when both were undefeated, with Notre Dame riding a 20-game win streak; and he kicked the field goal to give the Hawkeyes a 20-17 win.
His brother Glenn also entered into the University of Iowa in 1918.
Duke Slater was his teammate on the historic 1921 Iowa football squad, arguably the best one in the team's history.
