The first part of his channel's name, "Avo," comes from his hope that he would be able to adopt in-game flight powers. He added "mance" to make the name sound more magical, unique, and altogether more memorable. He has referred to his fans and followers as "Avomaniacs."

He is originally from London, however, he later relocated to different parts of the UK including the South of England and the Midlands. After earning his degree in marine biology, he found fulltime employment in a position that required him to travel around the world.
