Perhaps most well known for her National Film Award-nominated performance in the 1997 Tamil feature The Terrorist, she is also notable for her portrayal of Queen Jamillia in the 2002 blockbuster Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.
At the age of ten, she made her screen acting debut in the François Villiers-directed movie Manika: Une Vie Plus Tard.
Her television and radio credits include performances in the British soap opera Coronation Street and the BBC Asian Network radio drama Silver Street. She performed in the original London West End and Broadway productions of the popular musical Bombay Dreams.
The daughter of Pakistani-British poet Imtiaz Dharker and Indian journalist Anil Dharker, she spent her youth in Mumbai, India. In 2010, she married Englishman Robert Taylor.
In 2010, she co-starred with Sanjeev Bhaskar in a miniseries titled The Indian Doctor.
