Before fame

He began playing guitar when he was 10 years old. He began performing professionally in local jazz and rock venues by his mid-teens. He attended the Victorian College of the Arts during his youth and graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Music. He continued his studies at the New England Conservatory in the United States. He moved to New York City in his early 20s where he began performing regularly in jazz clubs. He began sharing music content on YouTube in 2013. He released his debut EP Autumn in 2015. He released his first solo album ACE in 2019. He followed this with Awakening: The Early Quartets and Ocean Road.

He has performed at major venues and festivals including the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Detroit Jazz Festival, and the Hollywood Bowl. He has appeared on television programs including Christmas in Rockefeller Center and Pose.
