Brian Skerry

About

Photojournalist who has worked for National Geographic, specifically covering marine wildlife and underwater environments. He has authored 12 books, with Secrets of the Whales published in 2021.  The book was released in tandem with his 4-part documentary film series, streaming on Disney+, which won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary. 

Before Fame

He began working for National Geographic in 1998. He was named as a National Geographic Photography Fellow in 2014, and later a National Geographic Storytelling Fellow in 2017. In 2017 he was also awarded the title of Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year.

Trivia

His brianskerry Instagram has 900,000 followers. He posts pictures of marine life, such as whales, sharks, and manatees. His 2019 photo of narwhals gained over 50,000 likes.
