Award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and producer who first became known for penning the Tony-winning musical Next to Normal. He would go on to write and produce the Netflix adaptation of Jay Asher's 13 Reasons Why.
He graduated from Columbia University. While there, he was the Artistic Director of Varsity Show.
Next to Normal won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2010. He also penned If/Then, originally starring Idina Menzel.
Much of his youth was spent in Omaha, Nebraska, before he moved with his family to Issaquah, Washington.
He worked with Bridget Carpenter to create a musical version of Freaky Friday which premiered in Virginia in the Fall of 2016.
