Known for his prolific professional surfing career, his crowning achievements include winning the 2004 Quicksilver in Honor of Eddie Aikau and the 2008 Rip Curl Pro Search events.
He began surfing regularly at age 7. He turned professional following his high school graduation.
He has endorsed a wide variety of products, including his own personalized pair of Oakley sunglasses. He created and starred in his own autobiographical documentary film, called The Bruce Movie, in 2005.
His brother, Andy Irons, was also a renown and successful professional surfer.
He took first place at the 2001 Billabong Pipeline Masters event, defeating Kelly Slater.
