Family Life
Her biological mother abandoned her as a newborn, and she was in an orphanage for a few months before being adopted by an upper-class family. In interviews she had said that the discovery of her adoption was a major factor in her decision to leave home at seventeen. After her family found out about her work, they cut her off, and her father died without speaking to her again.
