American war hero who was the youngest U.S. serviceman at the time of World War II. He served aboard the USS South Dakota during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal and helped in the fire control efforts.
He enlisted in the Navy when he was 12 years old after the attack of Pearl Harbor and later joined the United States Marines when he was 17 years old.
He was awarded with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his services.
He was married to his wife, Mary until his death in 1992.
He received disability pay benefits in 1988 after President Ronald Reagan signed legislation granting it to him.
