Before Fame

He started creating his humorous videos as a way to make right on a bet he made with his son, in which the loser had to come up with a way to make $250 to pay the winner. In addition to creating the satirical videos for which he has become internationally famed, he also started selling merchandise such as branded apparel and home products.

In an interview with Diaspora News, he described the outpouring of correspondence he has received from fans and followers. He shared that many of the people who write to him have admitted that they were adopted from Russia to America and find solace in hearing his familiar accent in his videos.

Family Life

He was born and raised in Leningrad, Russia, which is now known as Saint Petersburg. In 1989, he relocated to the United States with his mother, father, and grandmother. The exodus took over three months of travel through countries like Austria and Italy while the Soviet Union began to fall. He met his wife in the United States, though she is originally from Russia as well. Together, they have two sons, both of which have been featured in the videos he shares on his social media accounts.

Despite the similarity of their usernames, he clarified in a Q&A video that he is in no way related to YouTuber Taras Kulakov, who's most widely known as the Crazy Russian Hacker.
