Comedian and actress who became known for appearing on Saturday Night Live in it's 11th season and died of breast cancer in 1994.
She graduated with honors from Roosevelt University and later studied drama at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
She was the first African American woman, as well as the first lesbian to become a repertory player on Saturday Night Live.
Her longtime partner was Mary Jones Miller.
She co-starred with Al Franken during her run on Saturday Night Live.
