British Irish television and stage actor known for playing Brett on NBC's comedy series Undateable along with being known for his West End stage performance as Dewey Finn in School of Rock.  He is also known for his work in Sherlock, Doctor Who, Black Mirror, The Inbetweeners, Peep Show, Spooks, The Pembrokeshire Murders, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, Am I Being Unreasonable?, and the film The Mauritanian.

Before fame

He trained in London at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. His early career focused heavily on theatre where he appeared in productions at major institutions such as the National Theatre and the Donmar Warehouse. He built his stage résumé through performances in shows including She Stoops to Conquer, Romeo and Juliet, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. His international breakthrough came in 2014 when he was cast as Brett on NBC's Undateable. He began playing Dewey Finn in School of Rock on the West End in October 2016.

Trivia

He co-hosts a podcast titled The Baby Making Business which documents an IVF journey. He received an Olivier Award nomination in 2017 for School of Rock.

He was and raised born in Cork, Ireland, before he moved to England to pursue acting.

He played Dewey Finn in the West End cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical School of Rock which was based on the 2003 film with Jack Black. He and Luke Evans both acted in The Pembrokeshire Murders in 2021.
