Worked at Oregon State as a coach from 1965-1975, and as an AD from 1976-1985.
He played college football at the University of Oklahoma, where he was an offensive lineman from 1946-1949.
At Oregon State he won his first seven "Civil War" games against rival University of Oregon.
He was married to Luella Andros, and had one child with her.
At Oklahoma he played for coach Bud Wilkinson.
