Mexican criminal figure known for being the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), for becoming internationally infamous for overseeing the cartel's rapid expansion, and for being one of the most wanted fugitives by Mexican and U.S. authorities. He was also known for alleged involvement in large-scale drug trafficking as well as crimes attributed to CJNG such as homicide, extortion, kidnapping, and money laundering.
Before fame
He migrated to the United States in the 1980s where he became involved in drug trafficking and was eventually arrested, imprisoned, and deported back to Mexico. He worked within existing criminal organizations after returning to Mexico including groups connected to the Milenio Cartel. He helped form what would become the Jalisco New Generation Cartel around 2009. His rise coincided with a period of intense cartel violence and power struggles, and by the 2010s the CJNG had emerged as one of the most aggressive and fast-growing criminal organizations in Mexico.

He was considered one of the most elusive cartel leaders and avoiding capture for over a decade despite multiple large-scale manhunts. He was frequently listed on DEA and U.S. government fugitive pages as armed and extremely dangerous, and The U.S. State Department publicly increased and reiterated its reward offer to $15 million in December 2024.
Family life
He was born Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes. He grew up in rural Michoacán, Mexico in an area long affected by organized crime activity. He was married to Rosalinda González Valencia. He had several children including Rubén Oseguera González. He was killed during a Mexican military operation on February 22nd, 2026.
