Elsie Attenhofer

About

Remembered for her work with a Swiss satirical performance group called the Cabaret Cornichon, she is also well known for her appearances in the films Fusilier Wipf (1938) and Heidi (1952). A playwright as well as an actress, she penned works titled Wer Wirft den Ersten Stein? (1943) and Reserve du Patron (1989).

Before beginning her entertainment career, she worked as a medical secretary.

She was among the first Swiss, female recipients of a pilot's license.

Family Life

Born Elisabetta Fanny Attenhofer to hotel owner parents, she spent her early years in Lugano, Switzerland, and later relocated to Bassersdorf. Her marriage to Karl Schmid produced two children.
