Family life

She is the daughter of Elda Fornet Fernández and Fernando Matthei Aubel, the latter of whom was a well-known military general and former commander-in-chief of the Chilean Air Force. She has been long married to prominent economist Jorge Desormeaux, with whom she shares three children.
