Faith Kipyegon

Kenyan middle and long-distance runner who competes mainly in 1500 meter races. She is a two-time, back-to-back Olympic champion with the Games record, and a two-time world champion. She is also the only woman to win four global 1500m titles. and the second woman to claim consecutive Olympic titles in the event.  

Before Fame

She was a soccer player until she was introduced to athletics at school when she was 14 years old. That's when she lined up for a one-kilometer run in P.E. class and won the race by 20 meters. She attended Winners Girls High School in Keringet.

Trivia

She won Olympic titles at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Games, as well as world titles at the 2017 and 2022 World Athletics Championships. She was cited as one of the top 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine in the year 2017.

Family Life

She is the daughter of Samuel Koech and Linah Koech. She is married to middle-distance runner Timothy Kitum. They have a daughter named Alyn.
