Before fame

He performed at local concerts and talent competitions before he was 10 years old and eventually moved to Kingston, Jamaica to pursue music. He worked with the Kilamanjaro traveling sound system and originally used the stage name Mad Killer before Capleton encouraged him to adopt the more spiritual name Fantan Mojah. He made his recording debut in 1997 with "When I Rise" for Tristan Palmer and released his debut album Hail the King in November 2005.

He received a YouTube plaque in the year 2022 after his song "Stronger" reached 25 million views in total. He is known for performing with a backpack as a signature stage accessory he has carried for more than a decade.

Family life

His real name is Owen Moncrieffe, and he was born and raised in White Hill, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. His mother Mazelyn Moncrieffe passed away in 2021.
