Republican politician who was a US Senator from Wyoming from 1953 to 1959. He also served as the 21st Governor of Wyoming and represented his state in the US House of Representatives from 1943 to 1950.
He studied law and science at Creighton University, while working for the post office.
He also served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Wyoming.
He married Alice Catherine Donoghue in 1919.
He and Henrik Shipstead both served in the Senate.
