Before fame

He began his music career at a young age by studying piano, guitar, harmony, and choral singing. He started performing and writing songs as a teenager and quickly gained recognition in local and national competitions. He won the Mola Joven contest when he was 18 years old in 2000 and followed that success by winning the Cantigas de Mayo national singer-songwriter competition in 2001. He signed with Darlalata Entertainment in 2007. He originally built his career under his own name before reinventing himself as Funambulista and released his first album as Funambulista in 2010. He had his breakout with the 2014 single "Quiero Que Vuelvas" which was featured in the film Perdona si te llamo amor and helped bring him mainstream success in Spain.

Trivia

He was nominated for Best New Artist at the Premios Los 40 Principales in 2010 following the release of his first Funambulista album. He was selected as a support act for Maldita Nerea's "Gira Fácil" tour in 2011.

His real name is Diego Cantero. He was born and raised in Molina de Segura, Murcia, Spain.
