Indian chess grandmaster and chess prodigy known for being the second youngest person in history to qualify for the title of Grandmaster in March 2019, for being the third-youngest to achieve a chess rating of 2700, for being the youngest to reach a rating of 2750, and for becoming the youngest-ever contender for the World Chess Championships in 2024.

Before Fame

He learned how to play chess when he was 7 years old. He began competing soon after learning how to play. He won the Under-9 section of the Asian School Chess Championships in 2015. He won the World Youth Chess Championships in 2018.

Trivia

He almost passed Sergey Karjakin in becoming the youngest chess grandmaster in history but missed making the record by 17 days. He was awarded Player of the Year by the Asian Chess Federation in 2023.

He was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His father is a medical doctor and his mother is a microbiologist.
