Latvian activist known for his anti-Soviet views and his work on behalf of human rights. He served time in a Soviet prison from 1961 until 1976.
He worked in one of the biggest electromechanical factories in Latvia.
Shortly after his release from prison in 1976, he was arrested again for continued anti-Soviet activities.
