Photographer who is known for her documentary work and coverage in The Washington Post, The New York Times, and Time Magazine. She is a photojournalist as well as a documentary filmmaker who focuses on long form storytelling. She shares her documentary shots through Instagram for her over 40,000 followers.
She began studying photography at the age of 14. When she was 16, she began photo reporting in a Romanian youth prison. She earned her B.A. in Gender Studies from UCLA and earned recognition in 2014 when she participated in the Joop Swart Masterclass of World Press Photo.
She is known for having given a Ted talk in which she discussed her role in documentary work and journalistic photography in Vancouver, British Columbia in April of 2018. She also earned the 2012 Inge Morath Award from the Magnum Foundation for her multi-series work on the aged.
She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.
