Pennsylvania-born children's book author and illustrator. She and her husband, Stan Berenstain, became famous for their Berenstain Bears children's book series.
After studying at the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art, she worked during World War II as an artist for the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
She and her husband created a cartoon called It's All in the Family that was published for three decades in Good Housekeeping and McCall's magazines.
She married Stan Berenstain on April 17, 1946. The couple raised two sons: Leo and Mike.
She was a contemporary of fellow children's book author Paula Fox.
