Russian singer and songwriter known for her multilingual pop and acoustic music and for her collaboration with the French musical collective Nouvelle Vague. She is also known for her song "Russian Girl" and albums C'est la vie, Russian Girl, Morse Code, and Whatever Will Be, as well as the film featured single "Lullaby of Silence."

Before fame

She began her artistic path with classical music training and originally aspired to become a ballerina by enrolling at the Vaganova Academy in Saint Petersburg. She shifted her focus to music and songwriting after a leg injury ended her ballet career. She began composing songs during her recovery period. She a laureate of a Saint Petersburg vocal competition in 1998. She joined Nouvelle Vague in 2008. She released her first studio album C'est la vie in 2011.

Trivia

She won a song contest called Baltic Stars in 2006 and represented Russia in the World Championships of Performing Arts in 2007 where she won multiple medals. She is credited with writing hundreds of songs. Her song "Lullaby of Silence" was featured in the 2015 fantasy film He's a Dragon.
