Center back who has risen to fame for his Asian club career, including in the Japanease J1 League for the Kashima Antlers beginning in 2018. He contributed to the club winning the 2018 Asian Champions League.
He began his youth soccer career in the Ulsan Hyundai youth academy in 2010. He then turned to Yonsei University between 2013-2014.
He has earned caps on defense for South Korea's national team. He helped the squad win the 2017 EAFF East Asian Cup.
He was born and raised in Incheon, South Korea.
He and Kim Young-gwon have played as teammates for the South Korean national team.
