Famous for his eponymous and Chinatown clothing collections, this Hong Kong-born, Ireland-based fashion designer received the 1993 British Fashion Awards' Designer of the Year honor.
After studying at London's Croydon School of Art, he settled in Dublin, Ireland, and established his Chinatown clothing label.
Known for his interior designs as well as for his work in the fashion industry, he contributed to the decor of both Birmingham, England's Orion Building and Dublin, Ireland's Morrison Hotel.
He was born in Hong Kong to a family of Portuguese and Chinese heritage. His marriage to Odette Gleeson resulted in a daughter, Simone, who also had a successful career as a fashion designer.
He was born in the same year as American fashion designer Stephen Sprouse.
