Jazz artist who worked with many of the greats of music history.
He started learning the piano at age seven, then dropped it at age 12 when he discovered New Orleans Jazz.
He lived in Los Angeles and New Orleans in the late 1960s. His collaborations included stints with Kid Thomas, Louis Nelson, Sammy Rimington, and many others.
His brother David Marks, a psychologist, played the banjo. His brother took him to a gig at age 14, and he surreptitiously began playing the piano during the performance and was an immediate hit with the crowd.
He played at Louis Armstrong's 70th Birthday celebration Hello Louis in 1970 and was captured next to Armstrong in a photograph of the event's lavish birthday cake.
