Most famous during the 1980s for playing Carmel Roberts on the popular British soap opera EastEnders, this actress was also a series regular on No Problem! and Angels.
Before beginning her television acting career, she trained at the Anna Scher Theatre in North London, England. In 1976, she made her screen debut in the BBC series Play for Today.
In the early 1980s, she co-founded the Black Theatre Co-op in London, England.
Her young daughter, Aisha Jacob, played her niece (Aisha Roberts) on EastEnders.
She and her fellow Anna Scher Theatre trainee, Susan Tully, both went on to act in EastEnders.
