Canadian folk and indie rock singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who began serving as the bassist and co-vocalist for the indie rock band Eric's Trip in 1990. As a solo artist, she has released multiple albums including "Loneliest in the Morning," "Woke Myself Up," and "I Thought of You." She has also served as the lead vocalist for the band Julie and the Wrong Guys.

Before Fame

After graduating from the French-speaking high school École Mathieu-Martin in 1990, she was convinced join Eric's Trip by her boyfriend (who was also in the band) when she was 18 years old. She released her debut solo album, "Broken Girl," in 1996 before launching her own label, Sappy Records.

She published a book of her photography called The Longest Winter. The mayor of Bruno, Saskatchewan declared June 7, 2009, as "Julie Doiron Day" to help promote her album, "I Can Wonder What You Did with Your Day." The song "August 10," from her 1996 debut album, "Broken Girl," experienced a resurgence in popularity on TikTok between 2024 and 2025, ultimately reaching #12 on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart in January 2025.

Family Life

She had three children with her ex-husband, painter Jon Claytor. She later began a relationship with musician Dany Placard and the two released a collaborative album called "Julie & Dany" in 2022.
