Writer and dramatist known for Barbora Radvilaite, one of the great Lithuanian plays of the Twentieth Century. His other dramas include Unija and Herkus Mantas.
He graduated from the Siauliai gymnasium in 1924 and went on to study philosophy and theology at the University of Lithuania.
In 1976, he was chosen as an Honorary Lithuanian SSR artist.
He was raised near Siauliai, Lithuania. During the 1940s, he lived with his wife in the town of Joniskis. He had three children.
He and Balys Sruoga co-founded the Lithuanian Writers' Association in 1931.
