She was abducted from a Florida hospital at just 8 hours old and was raised by her kidnapper until the age of 18. In 2022, she stated that she needed her mother home when arguing in favor of reducing her prison sentence.
She was first discovered with her kidnapper in January of 2017 in Jacksonville. She started gaining further public attention in January of 2020 after the adaptation of her life story appeared on Lifetime.

She and her birth mother Shanara Mobley developed a relationship later in life.
