Austrian-born American sculptor who made architectural sculpture and memorials, such as the Carl Schurz Monument.
He trained at the Kunstgewerbeschule (the imperial school for the applied arts).
He won the competition to create the Astor memorial bronze gates of Trinity Church at the age of 21.
He married Marie A. Sherrill in 1901 and they had three children.
He and Gustav Bergmann were both born in Vienna.
