American entrepreneur and businessman who became famous for creating the web-based online chat service Omegle. The website operated from 2009 to 2023. Omegle criticized the Chinese Communist Party, expressed support for the 2019-20 Hong Kong protests, and added an image of the American flag on the front page with the words "Xi Jinping sure looks like Winnie-the-Pooh" over it.
Before fame
He founded Omegle in March 2009 when he was eighteen. He attended the University of Vermont briefly before dropping out.
Trivia
In 2018 Forbes included him in their "30 under 30" list in the category of Enterprise Technology. He co-founded Octane AI with Ben Parr and Matt Schlicht. In an interview, he said, "I was working on a different project before Omegle, and it kept breaking due to an error from a third-party service it used. The error code wasn't documented, and I wanted a name for it, so I nicknamed it 'error code omega' because it was apocalyptic. Omegle was eventually named after that."

He grew up in Vermont before moving to Oregon.
