Before fame
She attended St Michael's Catholic Grammar School in North London. She left school early and pursued creative studies. She completed an art foundation course at Barnet College before earning a fashion illustration diploma from Epsom School of Art & Design. She then worked in fashion retail for brands such as Warehouse and Thomas Pink. Her writing career began when a friend challenged her to write the first three chapters of a novel in exchange for dinne which would eventually become her debut novel Ralph's Party. Her debut novel Ralph's Party launched her professional writing career after it was released in 1999. She began writing thrillers in the early 2010s and released her first suspense novel The House We Grew Up In in 2013. She released her hit novel Then She Was Gone in 2017.
