Before fame
She originally followed a traditional professional path. She studied accounting and then worked in the corporate world as an account manager in marketing and business roles. She eventually decided to try stand-up comedy after taking comedy classes in Sydney. She began performing stand-up in 2017 when she entered the national RAW Comedy competition and advanced to the New South Wales State Final. Her early success led to invitations to perform at major comedy festivals across Australia including performing at Just for Laughs Australia in 2018. She debuted her first full solo comedy show Hoo Am I? (What's My Name?) at major comedy festivals in 2019. Her stand-up special Hoo Dis? was released in 2022 followed by the widely streamed special Hoo Cares!? in 2023.

She originally started performing comedy as a way to build confidence and try something outside her corporate career and not because she planned to become a professional comedian. She loves food, noodles, pie, and rescue greyhounds. She is a rescue greyhound owner. She has become a frequent television guest on Australian panel shows including Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Cheap Seats, Question Everything, and The Weekly.
Family life
She was born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, where she grew up in a multicultural family. Her father is Chinese Malaysian, and her mother is Australian with Irish heritage.
